I am having a problem with quicktime installers.
Actually, most installers, but anyway, I have no firewalls, and no anti-virus programs except a v g.
Every time I try to install quicktime it either interupts itself, or I don't have enough ram.
In any case, if that's so, and I don't have enough ram, How can I check.
And If that's not It, What else could it be?
Hmmm! Aw'w gosh! well, since you have no virus protection, spyware/malware programs installed on your machine with the acception of AVG, no wonder you're not able to install or uninstall anything. Your machine's most probably, picked up anything from trojans to viruses to worms as you don't even have a firewall on your system. AVG is no good on its own, it is just a virus shield, doesn't protect against Spyware or anything. On my Dell Studio 1537 here for example, I have installed Ccleaner, which cleans your computer, clears out your Start menu, run dialogs, fixes any significant registry errors and everything nicely in the process, Auslogics Defragger (anything's better than Windows blimming Defrag after all) or you could consider downloading for free, defraggler, same company where you get Ccleaner, Piriform, although I don't think its as effective as Auslogics myself. Avast antivirus, which doesn't just protect your system, it covers your Email and internet, all aspects of it and it is also totally screenreader friendly, providing you switch to the simple user interface after downloading it and before registering your license if and when you purchase one, and you also need to disable the skins to make it screenreader user friendly. For firewalls, I have Windows Firewall as standard, and as I mentioned earlier, your wireless router if you're on Broadband as oppose to dialup, is a firewall in itself if you're on a secured Wireless lan network. Hardly anything nasty comes my way without avast litterally, sounding the alarm the second it finds something that should not under any circumstances, have broken through to my system. Lastly but by no means leastly, poor ol' avast does try its level best, but it doesn't beat some malware, so I also have Malwarebytes antimalware, which rootles out any unwelcome malware. I run all these programs at least once a week and sometimes more often than that if I think this laptop is underperforming. I'd still get Windows Firewall installed plus a more efficient virus software program plus Malwarebytes, Ccleaner and Auslogics and if you don't have it already, Windows Installer. Give your machine a thorough blitzing with all these programs straight away after you've installed each one and then get back to us if all the above works for you.

What the heck? um, windows installer comes with windows. Second, windows firewall? wow. I couple it with sygate avira and threat fire. If your running out of ram, snag a copy of memturbo. I'm not joking at all here my desktop (800 MHZ processor, 512 megs of ram) always had its CPU at 100 percent. After I installed memturbo and configured it, that level dropped down to 30 and below. I would go with what jen said though and get C Cleaner, and JK Defrag, as its less intensive on your system, and if you have sight you can see it in action.
So my suggestions:
mem turbo latest version
Avira Anti Virus
C Cleaner
Threat Fire

Just make sure all security and maintenance software is screenreader friendly, and note to post 2, when we got our XP desktop, we had to load a lot of the software from scratch and a friend had to help us put Windows Firewall on there as it wasn't on there already, so no, some systems don't just come out the box, boot up XP, Vista, Me, Nt Etc, straight off. You have to kind of help them along with a whole pack of CD Roms which come with the machines in the boxes, especially if you don't obtain them from PC World or your country's equivalent, lol. And what if it don't work with Jaws? well, if it don't work with Jaws, don't touch it with a 200 foot barge pole, ditch it and fast. all left-behind software which is a part of it, all of it, wipe any trace of any applications or programs which only consist of nameless graphical buttons off your system straight away. Any program or application which only consists of a series of unidentifiable numbered graphical buttons is more likely a piece of malware, spyware or even a virus or trojan which is not good times for you or your computer at all. I have no applications on my system which I don't know what they do when I click on the buttons, tickboxes, links Etc when I use them.

I did those thing. Still can't download quicktime.
I think I'm doing something wrong.
Hedwig, when you say that, have you tried using your jaws cursor? Seriously, I hate people who get all whiny about programs when they don't work, (like itunes for instance) and if you use your jaws cursor, Oh! My! God! it actualy works!
Agony, have you tried just downloading itunes, that makes quicktime come with it, then u could just uninstall itunes and quicktime still remains.
Haven't tried that musicmaster.
I have installed windows firewall, c cleaner, but still doesn't work. And its not just quicktime either! Its weird. I don't even know how nvda got installed, but it did, but nothing. else installed but that, 'cause I already had windows firewall.
Hmmm! well, in response to post 6, it's your loss if you get virused, not mine.
Jen.
I've never gotten a virus, and I'm DMZed. But I don't feel like arguing this anymore.
I did download Itunes: no success there either.
I think I'll just give up on that.
